S-5! Standing Seam Clamps receive Los Angeles City General Approval
Colorado Springs, Colo., March 31, 2016 – S-5! Standing Seam Clamps have earned approval from the Los Angeles Department of Building and Safety to be used to attach photovoltaic arrays directly to a commercial grade standing seam metal roof without penetrating the metal or collapsing or crushing the ridge in the metal roof profile.
“We’re the first standing seam clamps to receive this approval for a variety of standing profiles,” says Dustin Haddock, Product & System Development Manager at S-5! “Our clamps have been through testing required by the City of Los Angeles, where PV projects are more common. Because the City of LA is recognized for its strict requirements, having a Los Angeles Research Report (LARR) will assist with opening the door for our clamps to be used with other jurisdictions within California, as well as other parts of the country.”
The General Approval, based on load tests, kicked in on January 1, 2016, and is good for one year.
Haddock says S-5! Standing Seam Clamps were tested on a seam-profile-specific basis of the most popular commercial panel profiles in California.
S-5! is the largest and most specified manufacturer of attachment systems worldwide and is the only attachment system tested on nearly every metal roof and panel profile around the globe. Featured on what is currently the largest North American photovoltaic installation, S-5! zero-penetration clamps attach snow-retention and wind-performance systems, solar arrays, signs/banners, light fixtures, gas piping, stack/flue bracing, walkways, HVAC, lightning protection, equipment screens, conduit, condensate lines and more, all without violating the integrity of the roof or the roof’s warranties.Visit www.s-5.com.
